Tom Curless & the 46% Detroit, Michigan
Tom Curless is a midwestern progenitor and staple of indie pop rock. He spent several years using the moniker Your Gracious Host, but then in 2018 released his first official solo record "Songs of Movement" on Detroit based Futureman Records. Track 1 hooked me out of the gate, and it's an 11-way tie for 2nd-favourite. The lyrics, instrumentation, arrangement, dynamics, performance and production are excellent throughout. Others have used the word "fresh" to describe Tamar's music, and I agree. I'm never sure what will happen next and that's what makes it so exciting!
